Bill was born in Coventry and was brought up in a large, Christian family. He came to a personal faith in Jesus whilst studying social policy at Nottingham University. After three years teaching in a mission context in Northern Nigeria, Bill trained as a social worker and settled in Nottingham. He first worked as a church based community worker in Nottingham and joined the leadership team at Cornerstone Church. It was there he met and fell in love with Jacky who became his wife. After three years living and working in the inner city, Bill and Jacky moved up to Yorkshire where Bill was employed as a local authority social worker. Their children, Charlotte, Sam and Josh, were born in Yorkshire and Bill developed his social work career in the NSPCC whilst being on the leadership team of a lively, family oriented church in the Barnsley area. The family moved back down to the Nottingham area in 2000 in order to be closer to family and Bill started working as a social work consultant, on a freelance basis, from home. The children completed their schooling locally, moved away to university, and are now living in other places.
Bill has a lifelong passion for helping families that are finding life a struggle and he wants to use his social work skills and experiences to help the church reach out to families in need in a professional as well as a compassionate way. He and Jacky share the vision for the church, and their home, to be a place of hope and healing for children and families and they want to train and equip others to provide high quality pastoral care to people who are experiencing the ups and downs of life.
